Dubai Airport to start operations of Terminal 3 from October 14, 2008
Dubai Airport is planning to start a phased transition of operations at its international new Terminal 3 from October 14, 2008. The terminal which is dedicated to Emirates, is currently undergoing operational trials.
Terminal three is a multi-level underground structure with 220 check-in counters, 14 baggage belts, restaurants, First and Business Class lounges and has 2,600 underground parking slots. Dubai Airport conducted the first major operational trial, involving more than 2,000 volunteers, on August 9. Some 6,000 volunteers participated in a similar trials at the end of last month and another trial will be held at the end of this month.
Paul Griffiths, CEO, Dubai Airport said, "We want to make sure that all the systems and processes at terminal three are working smoothly and that customers experience nothing short of world-class facilities and service when they use the new terminal. It is precisely for this reason that we have decided to make terminal three fully operational in phases."
